{"id":584,"date":"2026-02-01T10:00:50","date_gmt":"2026-02-01T10:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/darmawan-assc.com\/?p=584"},"modified":"2026-02-18T01:33:27","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T01:33:27","slug":"bali-ocean-days-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/darmawan-assc.com\/?p=584","title":{"rendered":"Bali Ocean Days Conference &#038; Showcase (BOD) 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Bali, Indonesia <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Bali Ocean Days reaffirmed its role as a strategic platform connecting policy, science, business, and communities to accelerate solutions for Indonesia\u2019s marine and coastal challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Representing the Minister of Environment and Head of the Environmental Protection Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, <\/span><b>Rasio Ridho Sani<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Deputy for Pollution and Environmental Damage Control, delivered key policy directions on marine and coastal environmental protection on behalf of <\/span><b>Dr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indonesia is home to the world\u2019s second-longest coastline, stretching more than <\/span><b>95,000 kilometers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and comprises over <\/span><b>17,000 islands<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The country hosts <\/span><b>3.44 million hectares of mangrove ecosystems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, accounting for <\/span><b>23 percent of the world\u2019s total mangroves<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and approximately <\/span><b>2.5 million hectares of coral reefs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, national data show that <\/span><b>30\u201340 percent of coral reefs are in fair to degraded condition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while mangrove loss reached nearly <\/span><b>195,000 hectares between 2010 and 2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Rising Pressures on Marine Ecosystems<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his remarks, Rasio Ridho Sani highlighted the growing pressures on Indonesia\u2019s marine environment, including climate-driven coral bleaching, sea-level rise causing coastal flooding, and the escalation of transboundary plastic and microplastic pollution that crosses national borders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIndonesia is facing a convergence of environmental risks that directly threaten marine ecosystems, coastal communities, and economic resilience,\u201d he said, representing the Minister. \u201cThese challenges demand integrated policies, strong enforcement, and collective responsibility across sectors.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Bali Province alone, cross-sector collaboration between January and February 2025 successfully managed <\/span><b>1,274 tons of marine litter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, demonstrating how coordinated action can deliver measurable environmental impact.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>National Policy Directions Aligned with Bali Ocean Days<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The presentation outlined four key environmental policy directions that align closely with the purpose of Bali Ocean Days:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Strengthening protection and restoration of coastal and marine ecosystems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including mangroves and coral reefs<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Systematic control of marine pollution<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, supported by Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), waste reduction roadmaps, and digital monitoring systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Integrating environmental protection principles into blue economy development<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ensuring marine resource use remains within ecological carrying capacity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Strengthening science, technology, and marine data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as the foundation for transparent and adaptive policymaking<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThese policy directions reflect Indonesia\u2019s commitment to ensuring that marine development goes hand in hand with environmental protection and long-term resilience,\u201d Rasio noted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Communities and Collaboration at the Core<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indonesia continues to promote community-based environmental stewardship, practice-based education, and youth leadership in marine protection.
